On 29th December 2024 three parishioners, Elizabeth Barker, Helma and Ray Brown accompanied Fr Karol Porczak, former PP of our parish to St John’s Cathedral, Norwich where the opening of the Jubilee Year was being inaugurated in our Diocese. Before the 11am Mass, the congregation assembled in the Narthex where Bishop Peter began with an opening prayer and Welcome followed by the reding of the Scripture and a Psalm. One of the Cathedral’s Deacons read from the Bull of Indication which was promulgated on the Feast of the Assumption in 2024 by Pope Francis. The theme of the Jubilee Holy Year for 2025 is “HOPE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT” . The Pilgrims of Hope then proceeded behind the Cross of St Francis to the Cathedral for Mass through the main door thus gaining a plenary indulgence if the usual conditions had been met. Afterwards those in the photograph had an informal chat in the café with Bishop Peter who invited us into the Cathedral to have a photograph taken with him beside the St Francis Cross. A memorable occasion.
